This is getting exciting.
The billion dollar question: just content purchased from iTunes or all compatible (audio) files in one's iTunes library?
Get real, no way are the music labels going to allow them to do this unless they limit it to music purchased from iTunes.

RadarWeb is the bug reporting portal for Developers.
RadarWeb is. I'm talking about RADAR - what Apple engineers themselves use. I used to have access to it when I worked there MANY years ago, but I still keep friends who work there. They don't tell me anything since its NDA and they like their jobs, but they did tell me what I wrote.

I hope you are right, but it Apple has taken a decidedly Online only approach to Final Cut X rather than the old school model of NLE for EDL creation.
That's great for a lot of people, but you do have to wonder how that new timeline kicks out an EDL, don't you? T
he majority of productions are still tape based for now, but it is shifting rather quickly (especially with the HDSR shortage). I would imagine that Apple is gambling on the inevitable future of tapeless workflows and so I don't think it would be that crazy for them to leave out traditional tools for NLE to Online workflows.
Guaranteed that they wouldn't get rid of something so basic as OMF or EDL exports. Why would they? OMFs and EDLs are used for things other than exports for onlining to tape.
Think about it logically... they have support for 4K. 90% of people shooting 4K are going to do serious color timing with a DI. That's a figure I'm pulling out of my a**, but you get the idea. To do a thorough DI you gotta give them an EDL and all your clips, end of story. As for tapeless finishing, wouldn't you still want to give the sound editors and mixers audio OMFs? Good sound has nothing to do with being tapeless or not. These are just a couple of examples.

Yeah, hopefully maybe they'll be quieter? I don't think it'd ever be as quiet as a PS3...That 12x drive will never be as quiet as a 2x Blu-ray drive...From the interview I got the feeling that the inside of the machine will be just the same as the current models.
Kinda like the black macbook is the same as the white macbook, but with a bigger hard drive.

Should be all set to sync with the Mac with no issues like the iPod does. Unlike other phones and PDAs no need for sync software and special cables. Likely uses bluetooth to sync and all configured out of the box.
Me too, I need full PDA capabilities, see you later Treo 650.

i seriously effing hope it's more than <snip> virtual desktops. that's pathetic. we need a revolutionary OS revision.Picture this - Steve Jobs is demo'ing Leopard and he pulls out a really old iMac... and says "it also works really fast on one of these"... then he reveals that it's a "virtual desktop" running remotely. You can buy a Mac Mini and have up to 2 old Macs acting as terminals (or buy an "Apple Terminal"). Then he shows the quad machine with the new Apple terminal hub, and says that a school can add this baby to their classroom and instantly have a virtual upgrade for 30 old eMacs (video editing not included - for that you need to buy Macs)
Any chance virtual desktops could refer to that? .. since that's what I want...
ps. Oh... of course, terminals aren't just for your home network, they allow remote connections and an iPad.

@wilw posted this (http://twitpic.com/47aisk) funny pic earlier, so I did what any right minded person would do: Make a desktop theme out of it. It's subtle, but there's date, time, weather and itunes info in there.

Does this display subtitles?
Yes it's a small screen, but subtitles would benefit many people not just deaf people.

You know what companies do when they're having trouble in Japan? They all take a pay cut- even the CEOs. They work TOGETHER as a team. Amazing what that can do for a society.
I read a story about the CEO of Japan Airline (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/01/28/eveningnews/main4761136.shtml). He's got my vote as the Best Boss EVER!

As touch-based input, it would be amazing. As a physical swapping, not so much. Remember that you'd have to bring the modules with you if you wanted to use it on the go, which would defeat the purpose of having an internal component. At home, you're better off to have an external music keyboard/mixer/whatever, because it can be whatever size is most appropriate. If you use your computer with a mixer in place of the keyboard and then plug in an external keyboard, why not just use an external mixer? Sure, there are some people (DJs or whatever) that won't need to type while they use the alternate modules, but they're by far in the minority of an already niche market. Also, if you swap in a joystick in place of your trackpad, how would you close the lid? :D
Anyway, what would be nice (but a long way off) is a thin touch-sensitive OLED membrane of a keyboard. It accepts input and provides visual feedback, but can also provide tactile feedback by way of a series of pins underneath the membrane. The system could cause the pins to raise slightly, forming the outline of keys or perhaps bars for mixer controls or whatever. Like I said, a long way off, but that's the earliest that I can see this sort of idea actually being marketable.

Removable GPU!? Pretty impressive!
Nothing new, it's in my 4 year old 24" iMac.
Don't know why they made a deal of it at FixIt.

One does have to remember though, styling is subjective. You may find the Volt to be ugly, but I like it's design. Sure it isn't the best design out there, but considering the Prius, Insight, and other dedicated hybrid/electric models that I can think of( where manufactures design it to be aerodynamic and not stylish per se), I think it is one the best looking of the bunch( easily beats Prius, Insight, etc, but Tesla and Fisker make decent looking vehicles as well).
ironically the most aerodynamic production vehicle currently is the european spec Mercedes E220 blue efficiency diesel.
Gonna be interesting later this year with mercedes (E class) and citroen (3008) launching their diesel hybrids in europe. Mercedes already anounnced that they will be putting them as fast as they can across their line up the next 2 years. It could very well be that when the Volt launches around here that a C class diesel hybrid is already around the corner and thus ruin their good press.
regarding the Volt design i think the front and back view look great but where they really dropped the ball is the side view including the doors/side windows.
edit: can actually anybody come up with a more ugly car than the juke without the Aztek or a SangYong ? honestly i'm hard pressed

I don't know how or when it will happen but I long for a day when people themselves outgrow religion. Not governments banning it, but people learning their way past it. I know this idea may be upsetting to some but it will happen eventually and the stubborn clingers on will only look crazy. Sorry to say that many already do.
I agree (with the rest of your post too) except I think France is doing this the wrong way. A hardline rule is just going to make people entrenched and create pockets of extremism (like the Amish in the US).
My ideal solution would be outreach to Muslim women (or really any women that are more susceptible to brutish practices) to help them find their own path to the modern world.

If you are seriously using Zhydiv, you have issues.
For all the non-russian speakers on here, it means "kike" in Russian.
So, he can stay classy, in a least two languages?
(Yes, I've seen The Pawnbroker, several times.) ;)

imho they have to release the iphone 5 in the summer, cuz many contracts will ending at this time.
It's not like your phone will stop working when your contract expires. iPhone lovers will wait until the next one comes out, even if their contract has expired. If they can't wait they'll just buy an iPhone 4, considering one's contract wouldn't expire this summer if they already have an iPhone 4.
Wrong.
Expiry has nothing to do with it. As an account holder with four iPhones, my line is elligible for upgrade every year.
I have an iPhone 4, I'm upgrade eligible on June 11th.
Where's my iPhone 5, Apple?
