what do you mean, with 64-bit software or 32-bit software?
i assumed software optimized for 64 bit hardware.

I wouldn't say it would be anything noticable!
Probably make the low end one a 1.66 Duo and the top one a 1.8 or 2.0 Duo
I think it would be cool if Apple came out with a Mac Mini Pro.
Merom core 2 duo, X1900 GPU, slightly enlarged case, Sata 500GB HD, FW 800, SuperDrive. All for under $1250.00

I wonder if this will be an American exclusive device (if at all it actually happens)?
I don't see phone companies picking up on this here in Australia very quickly, heck it took two years just to get ITMS.
I'd love to have an Apple mobile phone, but I just don't see it happening.

The past year my right eye's vision has decreased. Interestingly enough that is around when i got my iphone 4, can lack of my eye working and the phone making it easier make my vision worse? Probably not and just a coincidence.
Anyway i wonder if apple will do the whole "It is a 500$ upgrade for retina" thing or it will just be a thing all mbp's have.

FINALLY!!
The more people that are reporting rumors, them more "true" they can become!
I too like the keyboard and like the backlight. Am I correct in thinking that the MacBook DOES NOT have a backlight keyboard? I'm not that fuss on those style keys!
Dan :-)

Duh, I mean what advantage would 64-bit processors & software over 32-bit?
Usually there wouldn't be much advantage, except for applications that really need more than 4 GB of memory. In the case of x86 processors (both Intel and AMD), they have twice as many registers available in 64 bit mode; that is good for ten percent more performance.

sorry if this is a stupid question, but i'm just asking. I just bought a mbp, and now that its too late, i was wondering if i could just pop in a merom processor into my mbp and upgrade the bios? Or is that not possible? No the processor is soldered to the motherboard directly not in a socket. You have up to 10 days to return it for refund minus a restocking fee. Or sell it right away for even less difference. You can also call Apple and beg a supervisor to let you return it if you're past 10 days. That's how all those refurbs wind up on the SAVE page. :)

Excellent!
Good find!
I'd like to see iPod5/6th Gen tubes, similar to the nano's.

I think such a device would fit nicely between the iPod with video and full blown laptops. If you couple this with an e-book reader. *coughs*ereader.com*coughs* I wouldn't run to the Apple store. I'd physically smash through the mall doors with my car and drive up to the store.

Actually, Apple is doing them a favor. That's an ugly, ugly theme.
Look at the "Post your homescreen" thread, lots of tacky people with tacky looking screens. LOL

I wonder if AT&T will bump up the upgrade window? Mine is in Jan 2012, which would be ~4 months shy of the release date for the phone.

Yes, you're right. Novelty, not nostalgia. My brain is a little fried afta writin my dissertation.
How is it a novelty?
MobileMe doesn't even work right now... how would they ever support way more users?
Works fine here.

it's unnecessary rumors like these that make the market overreact and force intel stock prices to fall..
There's no way that Apple is gonna switch to ARM for their Mac lines when it already took them a decade to make the transition from IBM to Intel processors.

Companies have a right then to make money on it and Apple cannot actively try to cut off the ability of another company to make money off the Iphone legally, its called restraint of trade, a federal law.
Yes they can. There is no protection under law for making money off the ineptitude of other companies. Apple is entitled, and expected to fix bugs. When those bugs get fixed, an avenue for jail breaking gets closed. Companies that see their revenue stream dry up are just screwed. That's life.
Jail breaking happens because Apple screwed the pooch on security. That's all.

i worked it out as 288 using BODMAS order, or PEDMAS as you americans call it :P
good idea to use Wolfram, that thing is pretty insane, and even Google can do it! step it up OS X calculator! :D
EDIT: Spotlight is giving me 288.
oh! looks like you just need to add an asterisk

Maybe it hasn't but I could see the logic.
Buy a Mac and receive MobileMe free during the limited warranty (and during AppleCare if you purchased that)
Afterwards charge for the use of it or supply a free ad supported model. I'm not saying it would happen, and you correctly pointed out it hasn't
We could find out that Apple have no intention of changing their current model.
And what happens to the email address after people don't renew for a paid subscription.
I think for free they should just include a shell acct where you can manage your files (2gb), but you get no email

Can someone tell me the advantages of the Merom chip?
More Speed? Less Heat? Improved battery performance?
http://guides.macrumors.com/Merom
Intel claims that it will have 20% more performance at the same clock speed when compared to the current Yonah processor.

Competition is good , however with that being said. It's any one's game from month to month depending on how well the o.s. is developed & how often an update comes out. I'm sure apple has a lot up it's sleeve and I'm not just saying that because I own the iPhone 4. I also own a G-2 from Google.
