Does this really suprise anyone? There's only 1 current gen iphone available on 2 carriers in the US, whearas there's at least a dozen current Android phones on just about every carrier (even prepaids like Virgin Mobile).
edit: tl;dr more than first couple pages, and now I see this sentiment is expressed by others.

so once these are released, what are the chances if my MBP was broken Apple Care would replace it with a new Core 2 Duo one? It's possible. I've heard of iBooks replaced with MacBooks and iMac G5's with Intel ones.

I personally love MobileMe and use it to sync between my iPhone, iPad, iMac, and MacBook. Now if they would only get it to sync with a PC running Exchange, it would save me also having to pay for and use Plaxo's Premium service to keep my Windows PC updated.
Has anyone figured out a work-around for the Exchange issue? I still haven't found a reason why they don't allow calendar and contact sync'ing when using Outlook with Exchange.

In my opinion-
48/2(9+3) = 288
48/(2(9+3)) = 2
To make it clear you could write it with ( ... )^-1 like a real man! :D
Agreed.

New question ... since the phone is linked via bluetooth to the Car Kit, does the bluetooth engage even if you don't place the phone in the device? ... if it's still in pocket, does a call ring through the speaker of the Car Kit when in the car?
The Bluetooth only works when the iPhone is in the cradle and the ignition is turned on. When you turn off the ignition, the Bluetooth turns off. If you have the iPhone in your pocket the Car Kit Bluetooth will not connect.

For the budget conscious, you can order a 2GHz MacIntel Pro for only $1962 with a 160GB HD. Since 250 GB Hds are only $70 these days - recently 400 GB was $99 at Fry's, yes SATA/300 Maxtor - Getting rid of the Apple 250 for a 160 is worth saving $67.
Apple's $400 price for 500GB HDs is Absurd. Fry's $99 for 400GB Maxtor SATA/300 on Memorial Day is more reasonable wouldn't you say?
The above is all based on the Educational pricing. But even the retail pricing is better saved than spent. ;)
My GUESS is that the 2GB MacIntel Quad is about the same speed or a little slower than the G5 Quad. But I love the 6 bays and additional ports in it.
I'm looking forward to teh benchmarks on the 2GHz Mac Pro Quad Vs. The 2.5GHz PM G5 Quad. That will tell quite the story. Note the SATA bus is 300 vs 150 on the G5.
But it is only about 15% more money - $270 Ed or $300 Retail - for 33% More Power. So the 2GHz model becomes an "it's all I can afford" model. Or only need for non-speed intensive applications.
Looks like a 3GB RAM config will cost at least almost $400 more - getting 2GB from third party. So pretty much a $2900 deal - Educational (plus HDs) for minimum 3GB setup on the 2.66GHz model - including 8% CA Sales Tax.

Dial-up. ...
And I'm in the 10th largest city in the country. My parents, who live in a little country town a long way from anywhere get quite decent broadband speeds. Go figure...
Common mate, the Gong isn't a city ;)
I get ~8000kbps so Movie downloads works for me - if the price and quality and DRM are right.

I hope Apple gets Toyota to pull that crap back. Jailbreaking shouldn't be legitimate nor supported in any way.
Why not. It's your stuff.
If I want to mod my TV would you say that is not legitimate.
If I want to modify my thermostat to talk to a computer, is that not legitimate?
Reprogram my roomba. . .
Why do you think people aren't allowed to modify the crap they BOUGHT!

Merom definitely in the Black Macbook though, if this is true.
I hope so. At least then one could justify the price difference!

the news say intel has already made small shipment last month enough for product launches, .. in september.. apple will expect large shipment.
so this means launching at wwdc, available in september
Or perhaps it means enough chips to sell a few thousand (or hundred, I'm just going out on a limb here! :D ) initially, and then mass produce in Sept to keep up with the demand?
Either way, I want to see them available in August...I can't wait any more. I've waited a year and a half! Of course, I didn't need one up until August, anyway. :p

Yet another sign Apple is going to kill the Mac Pro.
You'll see! With Final Cut Pro on it's deathbed there is no way the Mac Pro is sticking around!
/s
I think quite the opposite. I think It will increase the market.

100,000 seems about right. You have to consider what the potential market would be.
For years it was: "Apple must make a tablet or they're DOOOOOMED!!!!" As soon as they did, the same people were screaming about how it couldn't run Final Cut Pro"Epic Fail!!! LOLZZZ!!!"
Then when the iPad started selling like hotcakes, they had to start touting every sort-of-similar contraption that came down the pike, even though they do the same kind of things the iPad does and they were already on record bitching about what a worthless device the iPad was.
Anybody who thinks that they are then going to run out and spend >$800 for something they've already ridiculed in advance needs to take a reality pill.
That's assuming they have any money to spend on it. The screamers aren't buyersthey're howler monkeys. The 100,000 units were probably sold to teenage boys (who got their parents to buy it for them, that is) who saw the commercials and said: "Cool! I wanna morph into a robot!" That market is probably saturated, and I don't think their parents are going to go for any of the fantabulous new tablets that are "coming soon"not this year and probably not next year.

Didn't all your methods, whatever they are called, give a priority to do the parenthesis operation first?
It is not my assumption, it is the method/explanation given by others
I already took that into account. Can't you see?
48/2(12) is something we should all be able to agree on. anything in parentheses must be evaluated before anything else.
x/y(a+b) becomes x/y(c). That's the P in PEMDAS and it's done. At this point there are only multiply and divide operations left. This is just x/y*c which should be evaluated left to right. Because it is indistinguishable from x*d*c = x*(1/y)*c. I can commute operands to get x*c*(1/y) and rewrite that as xc/y should I want to.

Yes, but where is my Sandy Bridge Mac mini?!
This. With the current capabilities of the Sandy Bridge MBP's, I'd love a few SB Minis, in one of these:

Disappointing. Apple could have left this one alone.
Lame. You can be sure Toyota will capitulate to the Apple strong arm.
It doesn't make sense for Toyota to make a stink over this. It just doesn't make good business sense. There's a reason why businesses aren't managed in the same ways children bicker behind schools.
