    Why?

Muslim tradition. They are clearly being careful to respect Islam itself, to minimise any backlash.

4.3.2 feels smoother to me. Take that with as many grains of sand as you like.

Definitely agree. I don't know about the 3rd part app bug, but the UI feels a lot better (eg home screen appearing after you slide to unlock)

I think I have lost 7 -10k points from the 10th 11th and 12th instead of gaining ~60-70k pts. the 10th I had ~3420 the 11th was ~7200 and the 12th was ~3420. now it's ~3420, 0 and I think 0. Don't suppose it would do any good to complain since I don't have any "proof" of what happened.

Oh well it's just a "game" anyway  and as long as I'm doing something meaningfull that is what really counts anyway. I'm not smart enough to contribute to science myself so this is my way to add to our knowledge of the universe and life.

Anyway, happy Thanksgiving to everyone everywhere and may your points pile up.

yeah i'm not sure how i lost, but i know i lost a bigadv unit. but yeah, as long as we're contributing to a good cause, that's what counts.

and happy Thanksgiving to you as well :)

"iX" = "Ix", which is the nickname for the character Ford Prefect in the book "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".

Obviously, the new Apple device is either a digital watch or a towel.

I see that name, and I think of Dune, not HHGG. Ix is the planet where all the cool machines & gadgets are made.

I like your idea and I think it would work in many situations if there is indeed going to be a "transition phase" toward a new type of connection format. However, I'll stick by my prediction as it offers the maximum benefit for Apple and its third party partners while keeping the whole user interaction simpler and more elegant. The Nike situation is different in the respect that it is really the only way to make a product like that workcan't have a bunch of wires getting in the way of running. I know the iPod Hi-Fi probably isn't selling well enough for Apple to worry that a new connection format would hurt their own profit margin much, but there are a LOT of third party partners out there that have only recently given it their best because Apple has probably assured them that the dock connector will be around for quite some time, so third party R&D won't be a black hole or recurring expense in that area. It is what has helped the accessory market evolve to the point it has, which has benefitted Apple immensly-don't think Apple doesn't realize that fact! It is also what is missing from the also-ran MP3 manufacturers: not enough consistency to make it worth their investment to produce for those products.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Of course, it COULD have both....

    how about

a 30 $ optional wireless receiver that acts as a female dock connector to plug into the existing iPod docks?

    I feel safe running OSX...

Although the future will eventually bring us Mac users some "possible exploits" and other privacy invasions, I feel that Apple has made a good job so far protecting OSX and, as far as I'm concerned, they have earned my trust.
What I'm saying is that we should all just take it easy and worry about this stuff when it actually happens and IF it happens. However, as of now, I think these "kernel bugs" are nothing more than reverse advertisement for the new upcoming Windows, call me paranoid, but I know a lot of PC maniacs are dying for Mac's to get any kind of V.I.S.T.A (Virus Infections Spyware Trojans Adware). In fact, I'm more scared of being kicked by a horse today than getting Mac Viruses in the next couple of years

I for one loooooove to brag from the top of the mountains:
    "MY Mac IS 100% V.I.S.T.A FREE!" :D

Just my opinion on the topic :) extreme neh?

First off...Eriden nice meeting you today, sir! Was a fun morning less the disappointment of neither of us getting our desired model.

Brea had a 105 year old mall cop who yelled at some kids sitting in the middle of the floor. I'm almost positive he called for backup. Haha

Just ordered mine online. At least have one in the pipeline. And hey...it is getting shipped to Mass so I'll save $20 on sales tax :)

It was good meeting you too! Hopefully we won't have to wait the whole 4-5 weeks. I'd be back at the crack of dawn tomorrow, but I'm up against deadlines for work projects.

And that mall cop was hilarious. He probably hasn't felt relevant in 30 years. Getting to glare at mallgoers and check in with his supervisors probably made his day.

We moved up a rank today some how. As well the number of active users is increasing. I kind of think us talking about it here seems to be helping! I might just set my signature back to something about folding tomorrow at some point.

it looks to me that we are still ranked 59. and the next group is about to pass us!

but yes, talking about it more here helps out quite a bit. the more we interact here, the better

That's typical Apple. Intel chipset does not support USB 3.0? No USB 3.0 for Apple fans! NVIDIA GPUs do not work with SandyBridge? Stick with outdated C2D CPUs for years. What's more important - CPU/chip or case? In case of Apple, the case always wins. Apple is all about image. Once designed, the case should stay unchanged for many years. Apple will wait until somebody designs a "suitable" chip. Is not it kind of backward? Then we hear excuses from Apple fans why Apple could not use separate USB 3.0 controller. This would require redesign of the motherboard - Wow! Think of it - redesigning a motherboard! Some companies redesign tens of motherboards every year but Apple? No way. Now iPhone users will be stuck with outdated technology for a year or two and they will be feeding us all kinds of excuses why LTE can not be used in iPhone. Just ridiculous.

Oooh things are heating up :D

I'm not gonna buy music from Amazon again though, I downloaded 1 song for my Dad once from there. Because iTunes didn't have it, and Amazon emailed me for weeks with spam.

Oh hell yeah, I just loaded up with a bunch of my favorites, Thanks Amazon!

I buy lots of stuff from Amazon, without a single problem with spam. No tax, no hassle, just a terrific place to do business.

Amazon has been my favorite for years. :)

Yeah, I started reading through the pages and saw that. I was just getting a vibe he wasn't based off the way he was acting but, thankfully, he isn't anymore because it was downright despicable.

Then again, some of the comments on here are no better. Blaming the victim for something she had no control over. The victim isn't in the wrong here. The attackers and, to a point, the employees are.

Grab yourself a copy of xdelta (http://xdelta.org/) and do your fancy small update package yourself. There's even no need to look at Google, this was common practice on Gentoo GNU/Linux years ago (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?p=318671). I remember running a satellite server myself. However, that were ISDN/Analog/DSL 765k days, who on 16MBit cares whether the updates are 30 or 300MB anymore, as long as Apple hosts the files?

    As expected.

Yep. As an added bonus, LTE networks might actually be available in more than select locations sometime around launch. They're not missing much this year.

Not sure I understand, I've had 4G on my Evo for over a year now...

    Hrm....

The "4G" on your Evo is WiMax, a completely different standard being pushed by Clearwire and supported by Sprint. It allowed Sprint to get a "4G" network up and running fairly quickly, but it's likely to be dead-ended with the proliferation of LTE and/or Clearwire blowing through its venture capital. Sprint's CEO has already said they'd be open to switching over to LTE in the future, which they really should do or end up being left behind in a similar way to their CDMA situation (except without Verizon to back them up).

It seems like a major problem with this would be the fact that you get no tactile feedback. However, I have tapping enabled on my iBook and I don't find it odd or uncomfortable at all then I "click" on something. I'm sure it would take some getting used to, but I imagine that it could work.

"A colleague of mine just picked up a 16 GB iPhone 4 in white. I was a bit surprised when I picked it up off his desk (I had my black 32 GB in my other hand at the same time) – it immediately felt thicker."

    LOL, that's absolutely ridiculous.

Also, why is everyone feeling so sorry for the case makers...like Apple is screwing them over? It's not their responsibility to cater to the case makers.

I completely agree. No one can pick something up and "immediately" tell that it's 0.25 mm thicker than another object. I call BS.

    AGREED!
