the standard "remove battery" and do a "P-Ram-Reset" routine helped me to get the temperatur back to normal.
but the "whine" sound stayed!

Apparently so. On a side note, a carbon fiber or rubbarized back would have been better for the ipad. Either lighter or more durable (shows less wear).

To watch Tv on the iPhone the Mac must be turned on?
So if I go at the office or somewhere else, to watch Tv on my iPhone my MAC at home must be turned on? I don`t think this is a good think! And if I am at home why I have to watch on the small iPhone screen (maybe when going to the toilet, but i cannot think some other home using) instead of a Tv or on my Mac?
I am using Slingplayer right now and the Mac and also the TV set are not required to be on!
There are a myriad of reasons. For instance, I live in a studio, and my girlfriend annoys me with her TV watchin' and her "favorite" shows seem to line up one after another. The problem is, I don't have nor want a TV in my space and use my machine. Solution? This. She watches her shows with headphones, I get work done.

If Nokia has had these patents for 10 years before the iPhone, then why didn't they act when the iPhone was first released?
I would ask the same question. However, that's not how patent law works in the USA. Nokia doesn't have to spend their time/money watching other people's products, tearing them apart, and looking for patent infringement. All Nokia needs to do is SOME DAY realize their patent was infringed and then file a lawsuit. That's it.
But I am sure that Nokia knew a very long time ago that Apple was infringing and did nothing (which is perfectly their right)...and let Apple make billions...then file a lawsuit to cash in. Think about it...why would Nokia file suit immediately to earn, say, a pesky $5 or $20 million (and give Apple a chance to make the product better) when Nokia can wait years and earn hundreds of millions or billions? It's the waiting game that ALL patent holders play.
I feel that the existing law is fine. It's not Nokia's job to watch for patent stealers. There are thousands of "little guys" out there that file patents and truly do not realize till years down the road that their patent was infringed. The law cannot discriminate.

Macworlds photoshop test put a 2.16 Ghz iMac Core 2 as equal to a 2Ghz iMac G5, which is pretty impressive. Not in light of the fact the G5 is only one core while the iMacIntel has two. :( Seems to me like it's more impressive one 2GHz G5 core holds it's own up against two C2D cores running faster.
But I agree it's better to have two cores than one no matter what. (Buying 8 ASAP in a Mac Pro). I'm kind of a core HOG. :) Make that AM A Core Hog. :p :D

Most people wouldn't steal food here, but if violent hoarding can be considered 'looting', then I would say the possibility is high under similar circumstances. By 'violent hoarding' I mean disrespecting one-per-customer policies and cutting in lines with daddy's shotgun on the back. People here are easily freaked out by the crisis-loving media (don't get me started about the swine flu in 2009), and we have very liberal laws on firearms compared to the rest of Europe.
That sounds pretty minor compared to the US. Might I suggest a visit to LA, Chacago, NYC or large southern city so you can get a sense what goes on here?

I have to disagree. In this case, integration is not a big deal. But in an office environment, having to switch between programs in order to take care of emails, contacts, appointments, and tasks is a big time waster. Yes, iCal has the event thingy and tasks but the fact remains that its not tightly coordinated like Outlook. I really don't understand why thye just don't put iCal in with Mail.
But then I'd have to use Mail.
There are programs out there that can integrate at least three of these on a Mac, using the internal databases. I like the fact that I don't have to use one program for everything; it usually means a program that doesn't do any as well, and it limits what you can to to what that program offers. With them as seperate componets, I can use only iCal, or only Mail, or only AddressBook, depending on what I need. And since the database is open to other apps, I can get a different address book or whatever if I need it.
I don't see Apples apps as supposed to be the best in catagory. They are supposed to be enough for a casual user. If you want more, you can get programs that allow more. Being seperate is better for this, because if you are a casual user of one but a heavy user of another you can just get a better program for the one you are a heavy user of. (For instance, I'm a heavy user of email, so I have Mulberry. It integrates with Address Book, of which I'm a very light user. And I nearly don't use iCal at all, but I use it just enough to appreciate that it is there. Integrating the three would actually make them less useful to me, because I'd be tied to using them togther, and that's not how I use them.)
Use Outlook, if that's the best program for you. That's fine. Some people don't need that much, but appreciate having the ablity to use some of it on occasion.

This is why the notion that Israel is a democracy is so laughable. It is a democracy in Israel proper, where the Jews are artificially kept the majority (i.e it's a democracy for the Jews in Israel proper), but in areas where they would like to be but do not want Arab influence in their politics, they build Jewish only settlements. So it's a "democracy" only where they want it to be and for those they choose based on ethnic/religious background.
Sooo...you don't see any problems that would occur if muslims became a majority there? Such as Iran part 2, sharia law. There's nothing racist about wanting israel to not become a muslim country. They wanted to partition it, but the palestinians wouldn't take that offer. they could have had their own "peaceful" nation by now. The chose not to, now they can deal with it. Let me ask you, would you consider yourself racist if muslims began playing a major role in canadian politics and imposing Islamic law on all canadians and you had a problem with it? Israel today is a modern secular nation, it is know as a "jewish" state, but their laws are secular. Why would they want to risk ruining all of that? They've made a great country out of the hell hole that land once was. You need to look at it from their POV. If the palestinians were peaceful secularists, there would be no problem right now.

Hallelujah! They're finally giving iCal an update! However, this significant update to the "user interface" better mean more than a cosmetic change to the interface. iCal is sorely lacking many basic pim functions and is really a sub par application from Apple. Here's hoping iCal finally blossoms into what it should've been all along.

Put me down in the, "I'll believe it when I see it" crowd. Getting decent battery life out of anything with a 0.3W radio transmitter in it is difficult -- unless you don't use it to actually talk to anyone, or put in a large battery. "Ye cannae change the laws o' physics!" Or electrochemistry, for that matter. :D

It's funny, but wherever I go, I always see people with iPhones. My train, on plane trips between Chicago and NYC, during meetings, etc. I am amazed the number is only 5% - but I guess it's the circles that I am in.
As said in the article, Apple has a noticeably higher market share in developed economies, and I would assume this to be particularly true for the U.S.. Moreover, a smartphone (particularly one that doubles as an iPod) will be much more often in the hands of someone compared to being in their pocket. Feature phones likely come only out of the pockets when actually speaking or texting on them.
In Stockholm and Frankfurt, I hardly see any iPhones. Also, I hardly see any iPads. I do however see a ton of MacBookPros but almost no MacBookAirs.
I find both places very style-centric (Stockholm especially), but also somewhat frugal. I don't think that iPhone will reach as large of a market share in Europe due to the high upfront cost of an iPhone (659€/799€ for 16GB/32GB).
I am seeing a lot of iPhones in Switzerland (greater Zurich area) but then Switzerland has high disposable income and always had one of the highest rates of Mac ownership worldwide.

I loved the first Portal and The Orange Box, but $50 for Portal 2 seems kind of steep to me.
How is $50 for a new video game "kind of steep"? The price of video games has not changed too much in the past several decades. I paid $45 for Quest for Glory 2, which came out in 1990, which is not too far off from $50 (inflation not included, either). With the exception of new A-list games on PS3 and Xbox 360 (generally starting closer to $60), the price of many games has gone down, especially for PCs.
It might be interesting to see if games for phones become a profitable revenue stream for game developers since they can skip several of the middle men via downloading games, instead of through traditional retail.
One thing which has surprised me is how many Portal 2 advertisements I've seen on buses or billboards. I've rarely seen video games advertised to such an extent, so that was certainly different.

Final Cut Studio and Logic Pro are a couple of the prime examples of software best still delivered via Disk. Not only is the software mammoth, it takes over 3 hours to install directly from the disks. And as fast it is to transfer data via disk compared to over the net, you bet that this would be a huge problem for 2 reasons. One, it would take forever to install. Two, a lot of folks have monthly limits on data, so you'll be hitting walls a lot quicker, that way.

in fact, part of me knows i'm dreaming when i plan on an 11".
aside from the amazing tininess, the lower price has its power too.
but the difference in price isn't really enough to weigh in much on a long term purchase. and, in fact, i don't plan on travelling much with my next mac. (not that i wouldn't enjoy a small size around the house.)
i think the 16:9 aspect ratio is one of the worst things about the 11". it seems really crippling on such a small screen/resolution. its like walking around with your eyes half closed and constantly having to move your head up and down.
currently, the power on the 11" is a no go for my needs, or else i would have already given it a chance, but i hope the update will improve things.
when it comes time to buy, i'll have to think hard, and be realistic. the 11" is a beautiful little creature, and it works well for some. for many, as we're seeing in this thread, the undeniable charm of this machine is overruled by the practical superiority of the 13"; that's assuming ultra-portability isn't the main priority.
i'll certainly keep your comments in mind, though i had already thought of a lot of what's been said, and agree.
is there a reason we're not hearing much from the 11" clan?
